“Walk or wheel with me” – first edition
„WALK OR WHEEL WITH ME“ campaign took place in the street of Meru on the 4th August 2018. Families, staff and friends of the Furaha Centre children together with the members of the local community took part in the parade.
The aim of the march was to increase the awareness connected with disability and to fight the stigma and discrimination of the disabled.
We are working on changing the traditional myth that ill children are the result of the activity of supernatural forces, curses or the “punishment” for bad deeds.
A lot of special care children are hidden at homes.
We want to show our local community that these children need medical care not a visit to a witch doctor.
